A message to Library customers:
The library’s funding comes primarily (85%) from a dedicated 1/8¢ sales tax. With the downturn in the economy, people are spending less and that means less tax revenue is generated for the library. This, along with reductions from other funding sources, including the state and the county, has resulted in a sizeable funding gap. A reduction in hours and workforce is necessary to close the funding gap. New hours will begin June 30, 2008, as approved by the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors.
